About this Event
a 4 part series. Mondays, beginning May 17, ending June 14.
Cost for CSC members only $25, or $50 for non-members for the WHOLE series.
Based on the book, Evolutionary Dancer, these gatherings will be conversational and co-creative. Participants will explore the elements of what the author describes as an emerging evolutionary spirituality for never-before times. The series will include Evolutionary Rituals, which Kilby believes necessary to aid the shift of consciousness in these times.
Week 1. Reconnecting with our Evolutionary Elders. Step into a mirror dance with extraordinary and everyday people who offer evolutionary wisdom for times of peril and promise. Based on the book’s opening chapters, Kilby shares how only by following the path of letting go did she gain an expansive understanding of her reality. Participants will dance with the term, ‘Evolutionaries,’ and be invited to name folks they consider Evolutionaries. In this session, we’ll entertain the possibility that we are the evolution.
Week 2. Work Like You’re an Evolutionary Dancer. Explore the allurement of purpose and the daily power of intention as a response to climate-driven cultural collapse. Using the four paths of Creation Spirituality as a compass, the group will use an exercise and co-creative conversation to explore the question raised in chapter two: What would be the next steps in the lifework of an evolutionary elder? Group will open and close with the original evolutionary ritual / body prayer, The Dance of Becoming.
Week 3. I Spy with my Evolutionary Eye. Try on three new worldviews to see past the myopic culture of planet abuse – the Awe of an Artist, Ecology as Identity, and Evolution as Reality. Group will be based on the third chapter’s exploration of cosmology as an ever-evolving framework of consciousness. This week’s evolutionary ritual, from the book, will be the Dance of Identity.
Week 4. Dancing with Your Storyteller. Like birds, whales, and trees put the Universe story in their own language, we must put the new cosmology in ours. Based on the original stories in the fourth chapter, the group will confront the challenge of the Evolutionary Elder – how to pass on the new consciousness, the cosmic story, and the creative powers coded and moving in all that is. Group will close co-creating an evolutionary ritual to tell the story of a One-Earth community.
Required reading: Evolutionary Dancer, Out, In, and on the Fringe of the Church. Background reading suggested but not necessary includes Original Blessing, Matthew Fox and The Universe Story, Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry.
